When you enter Chalten, the bus will stop at the national park entrance where you will receive a map of all of the trails – there are some easier ones with amazing views such as Laguna Capri (with the view of Fitz Roy, only 7 km). Another tip is to order the transfer to Pilar, which the hotel staff can do for you, and from there it is a longer hike back to Chalten but it is mostly downhill! Tell more
If travelling in winter, remember that it gets dark early. So plan your hike with enough time to complete before the dark falls. A GPS signal on your phone will also be useful if you are hiking without a guide (which is very do-able…).

Go to the Chamber of Commerce. They have the nicest people working there and they will give you unbiased information on everything to do in Sedona. Top piece of advice for a first time hiker in Zermatt is to go straight to info center to pick up map and flyers, and then spend time routing out your hikes. Assume that you’ll take 30-45 minutes more than the listed time just because you’ll be stopping to take so many pictures! Tell more
